Pat,
I showed the documentary to two of my Introduction to Sociology classes. The response was terrific. In one of the sections, students who have not participated in discussion since the beginning of the semester were moved to speak. I just thought you would like some feedback.

" I shared "The Homeless Home Movie" with my students and they loved it! It really gave them a realistic perspective on the complexity of this growing social problem. I'm teaching the Poverty in America class again this Fall and will be showing my new students the video as well."

Pat,
We got the movie, and used it last night. It was fabulous, everyone really really enjoyed it and felt as though it really enhanced our experience! Our project went very well, we raised a little over $600. We really appreciate you sending us this video.
Thanks so much!

Hi Patrick!
Thanks for sending the video so promptly. I showed it today at a brown-bag luncheon and it definitely received favorable reviews. Everyone thought it gave those who have never experienced homelessness a clearer picture of what it's like. I was especially intrigued with the contrast between the Up & Out of Poverty folks and the Mary Jo supporters. To me, both of them are right...it's too bad they each can't see the validity of the other's work and join together...they'd be a formidable force to reckon with.

P.S. The scenes from Minneapolis-St. Paul brought fond memories of the times I spent in that area in my younger days! Great videography!!!

Pat - My instructor gave me the nicest compliment -- he said that our presentation was among the best he has seen in his 20 years of teaching. I can't take all the credit. Your movie was the best part . . .

"Pat,
I saw The Homeless Home Movie during my AmeriCorps Pre-service Orientation, and was very impressed with the effect it had as a teaching tool, as well as an awareness tool . . . Once again I just want to let you know how wonderful your work on that movie is and the effect it has in making others aware of what homelessness is really like."

Dear Mr. Hennessey:
Just wanted to let you know how educational your documentary was. I found such consistency in the "breakdown of the family". I tried the film out on a group of rehab. clients at a local shelter to get some feedback from their stories and what you found to be true. It was amazing that every one of them talked about family. The majority of them are African American. I will view your film again this week with other students. I am sure that much learning will come of it this experience. Again, many thanks for your dedication to such a cause. So many will benefit from your work.
